    air mattress

    Hi everyone,

I wondered if anyone has or know of someone that has a lal rotating air mattress for a decent price. My son needs one desperately and we have been trying to get one for months with medicare and you know how that goes.
He just had his second leg amputation and the mattress was given sinks in the middle and with his history of wounds, it worries me.
Please let me know if anyone has good used one for sale.

    thanks,
    DavesMom, Diane

Check out eBay. Search for "low air loss mattress".

DavesMom, Call Star Medical (610-554-3367). They specialize in pressure-relieving surfaces and they will help you get whatever you need. They have a team of wound care specialists that will work with you to make sure he gets the proper surface regardless of whatever difficulties you are having with Medicare. They are in the Philadelphia area and service most of the East Coast.

Hello Diane, so sorry to learn about Dave . Gzzz medicare will not pay for a rotating mattress. the best thing you can do is start a go fund me page and ask for donations. The only reason I have one for Evan is because we received a 5 k grant and then I purchased one off the internet. New they start at about 5 k . Hillrom makes a total care bed , v que bed and care assist bed that you may have a better chance of getting approval from medicare. Contact them and see if they can be of assistance. Good luck. I just found one on e bay for 2,800 and you can apply for pay pal credit.

          Hi Jeanne,
My poor kid has been through a wringer. He had a leg amputated a couple of years ago and just had the other one done about 3 weeks ago. I love the rotating mattresses for him with his previous issues. They gave him a piece of crap for a mattress. I looked on eBay nbut figured I would check here first. I bought one from one of the members several years ago and it was wonderful. Hope Evan is doing well and you too.

Hello Diane, I agree ,he has been through so much. Also, you can write to your local congressman , senator , local delegate or the DHMH and explain your situation. Delegate Sophocleus , ( our representative ) was awesome in helping me get Evan's power assist w/c , the FES bike and the stander approved. They can easily cut through the red tape by making just a few phone calls. Some people do really care about their constituents and will go that extra mile for you. Really, how can someone on SSI or SSDI pay for the needed equipment. Evan and I are both good. Thanks for asking.
